I am Bonolo Smith — strategist, storyteller, and proud Boss Mama of two beautiful children. I am a daughter, sister, friend. My purpose is to unlock power and purpose in everyone I meet. I grew up an avid reader, debater and public speaker - these dots connected into the life and career I have built.
My work lives at the intersection of strategy, leadership, inclusion, and African identity. I believe leadership is not just about titles or positions — it’s about courage, community, and the power to create spaces where others can rise.
As a Director and strategy consultant at BTS, I help organizations align purpose with performance, shaping strategies that transform cultures and drive sustainable impact. As a leadership developer and coach, I design journeys that unlock potential — from first-time managers to C-suite executives — blending global best practice with African-rooted wisdom.
Beyond corporate boardrooms, I am a passionate advocate for gender equity. I create platforms, conversations, and solutions that challenge systems and champion the advancement of African women in leadership. My work extends into brand creation, building initiatives and platforms that celebrate and amplify the stories, brilliance, and power of African women.

I am also a researcher and writer, currently pursuing a PhD in Critical Diversity Literacy. My research focuses on the experiences of Black women executives in corporate South Africa — work that bridges scholarship and storytelling to shift perspectives and inspire transformation.
At my core, I am committed to one truth: when African women rise, communities rise. Whether through consulting, speaking, research, or brand building, my mission is to create spaces where leadership is reimagined, equity is realized, and Africa’s brilliance is celebrated.
